Education/Experience:

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Required Skills/Must Haves:

• A foundation in software design principles and an ability to design and create code as necessary.
• Strong functional and object-oriented programming skills in one or several mainstream languages such as C, Java, C++, C#, or Fortran (C is highly desirable).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) and any other programming languages (e.g., HTML, Java Script, and PHP).
• Background in or familiarity with one or more scientific disciplines (e.g. physics, chemistry, or engineering) and some knowledge of data science.
• Ability to communicate with and understand the complex requirements of scientists, engineers and professional staff in the deployment of scientific computing solutions.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
• Ability to analyze, optimize and debug scientific codes.
• Ability to support a wide variety of software needs (ISV, Open Source, Visualization centric programs).

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of mathematical and statistical computing programming languages (MATLAB, R).
• Skills in materials science, composition, or inorganic chemistry.
• Knowledge of additional languages for scientific computing in Windows and Linux environments (such as C/C++, Fortran, Java).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio (and .NET or WPF).
• Experience providing user support or code development support in scientific computing environment.
• Experience compiling and running codes on high-performance computers.
• Knowledge of MPI, OpenMP, or other parallel/distributed computing paradigms.
• Experience with revision control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with agile development approaches, automated unit testing / test-first design.
• Knowledge of Android, iOS mobile platforms and FPGA knowledge is a plus.

• Collaborates with all engineering métiers to detail and describe how related functions/performances are to be checked.
• Position requires understanding and knowledge of a wide range of electronic/ electrical systems, from discrete electronic devices up to large power distribution and control devices
• Leads the electrical design including train electrical schematics and wiring
• Calculate/simulate and verify tractive and braking effort, plus brake blending, required to meet customer requirements, in addition to reviewing thermal analysis of the propulsion and friction braking systems based on agreed variables
• Interface with internal and external groups to prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications based on given technical specification.
• Participate in testing and validation of new and existing designs and equipment
• Mentor less experienced engineers in creation of design concepts and documentation, development and testing

• Lead the First Article Review Inspection(FCCI), assure industrial inputs have been implemented and validated on 1st units manufactured and monitor the action tracker for closure.
• Maintain a level of accuracy of the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM)

Qualifications:
• Associates degree in related engineering discipline (i.e. EET, MET)
• Experience with electrical fields, motors
• Familiarity with tooling design and 3D software
• Knowledge of drafting and CAD tools including AutoCAD, Pro-E, CATIA, Solid Works or other similar software.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
• Experience with 3D modeling tools
